Group Diabetes Classes

Outpatient education = real life strategies for success.

  • Why group classes?
  • What will I learn?
  • How do I register?

Why group classes? Outpatient education classes are for people with type 2 diabetes who want to deepen their understanding of the disease and learn everyday strategies to help them enjoy a healthier lifestyle. FHDI has found that small group classes offer a chance to interact and share experiences, while still offering the ability to work with our team of educators on an individual basis. Group class members work in conjunction with their physicians to develop a personalized diabetes care plan.

What will I learn? Group classes help adults with type 2 diabetes learn more about:

  • How to manage their diabetes
  • How to plan meals to improve blood glucose control
  • Blood glucose monitoring
  • Starting an exercise program
  • Making lifestyle changes to improve health
  • How to cope with diabetes

How do I register? Day, evening and weekend classes are available at these 7 Florida Hospital campuses:

  • FHDI in Orlando
  • Altamonte
  • Apopka
  • Celebration Health
  • East Orlando
  • Kissimmee
  • Winter Park Memorial

A physician referral is required for all education classes. The cost of diabetes education class is covered by most insurance plans and Medicare.
