Begin Your Wellness Journey

Prediabetes

If your blood sugar levels are higher than normal, you may be at risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Prediabetes (the stage before diabetes) often has no symptoms, but elements of your lifestyle can cause your blood sugar levels to rise. If you are over age 40, lack a regular exercise regimen or struggle with your weight, you could be at risk of developing diabetes. Your risk may also be increased if one of your parents or siblings has diabetes.

Making some small changes to your lifestyle today can help you manage your blood sugar levels and reduce your risk of diabetes. To help you embrace a healthier lifestyle and feel good inside and out, we offer a range of programs and resources, including:

Find the confidence and guidance you need to eat well, build an exercise plan you enjoy, and control your weight. Let us help you prevent a diabetes diagnosis and lead a life of whole-person wellness.

Type 1 Diabetes

If you or a member of your family is living with type 1 diabetes, lean on the expertise and resources of the AdventHealth Diabetes Institute.

Type 1 diabetes happens when the body does not produce insulin, the hormone that helps your cells absorb necessary glucose from your blood. By taking insulin, monitoring your blood sugar, and making healthy lifestyle choices, you can achieve a full and active life, despite the condition. At the AdventHealth Diabetes Institute, you’ll find a range of programs, resources, and one-on-one and group classes to support you, including:

Whether you want to learn more about managing your diabetes or are looking for healthy eating tips, we’re here to provide the care and support you need.

Type 2 Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes can develop at any age, and it can take some time to adjust to a diagnosis. We’re here to help you find your way.

Type 2 diabetes causes the body to produce too little insulin, or have insulin that is not effective in lowering blood glucose. In some people, this can cause you to feel excessively thirsty, hungry and fatigued, and you may experience blurred vision. But you can control your blood sugar level with lifestyle shifts like regular exercise, healthy eating and careful medication management. To guide you through this change and provide the knowledge and care you need to feel confident, we offer a range of programs, classes and resources, including:

If you or a loved one has recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, or you just want to learn more about managing the condition, you’ll always find the support you need at the AdventHealth Diabetes Institute.

Gestational Diabetes

If you develop gestational diabetes, or a high blood-sugar level during your pregnancy, it can pose risks to your baby’s health, and your own. Trust our compassionate team of experts to help you control your blood sugar and improve your wellness for a healthier pregnancy.

While your blood sugar level usually returns to normal soon after your pregnancy, gestational diabetes can increase your risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. To help you understand and reduce your risk, we offer supportive group and one-on-one classes, including:

You want your pregnancy to be filled with excitement and joy. Let us help you care for your health so you can focus on your growing family.
